Itinerary

Arrive at Christchurch airport & transfer to hotel
- Afternoon: relax, stroll in Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park
- Evening: dine in city centre, maybe hit Riverside Market

Gondola up to Mt. Cavendish for views of city, harbour & mountains
- Visit Quake City Museum to understand the earthquake history
- Explore New Regent Street, Cathedral Square, Christchurch Art Gallery
- Optional: Punting on the Avon River in the evening

Drive/tour to Akaroa (~1.5/2 hrs). Scenic route via Banks Peninsula
- Activities: harbour cruise (see dolphins/hector’s dolphins), visit the marine reserve, French colonial architecture, galleries & local cafés
- Return to Christchurch for night

Early drive to Kaikura (approx 2/3 hours north)
